For planning, not for deciding. This tool gives estimates to help you plan and compare. It is not financial, tax, legal or medical advice, and it should not be the only thing you base a decision on. Check the numbers with your bank, lender, advisor or doctor before you act.

How it works

To find the sale price, take the discount percentage off the original price. A 30% discount on ₹2,499 means you pay 70% of it.

To find the discount, compare the two prices: how much was taken off, divided by the original price.

If a second discount is applied after the first, it applies to the reduced price, not the original. Two discounts of 20% and 10% give 28% off, not 30%.

The formula

Sale price = original price × (1 − discount ÷ 100)

Discount % = (original price − sale price) ÷ original price × 100

A worked example

A ₹2,499 item with 30% off costs ₹1,749.30, and you save ₹749.70.

Frequently asked questions

Why are two discounts not added together?

The second discount is calculated on the already reduced price, so the total is smaller than the sum.

Does this include GST?

No. Use the GST calculator for tax. Shops differ on whether the discount comes before or after tax.

How do I find the original price?

Divide the sale price by (1 − discount ÷ 100). A price of ₹700 after 30% off was ₹1,000.
