Rupees Twelve Lakh Thirty-Four Thousand Five Hundred Sixty-Seven and Fifty Paise Only

Defaults to the Indian system (lakh, crore) and rupees. Switch to the international system for million and billion.

How it works

Enter a number or an amount. Commas are fine, and you can include paise after the decimal point, like 1,234.50.

Choose the Indian system (thousand, lakh, crore) or the international system (thousand, million, billion).

Choose "Rupees and paise" for a cheque style result ending in "Only", or "Plain number" for just the words.

Good to know

Amounts are rounded to two decimal places, which is paise. Numbers can have up to 15 digits before the decimal point.

Always read the result against the figures before you use it on a cheque or a legal document.

Frequently asked questions

How is 1,00,000 written in words?

One Lakh. In the Indian system, 1,00,00,000 is One Crore.

Why does the result end with "Only"?

Writing "Only" after the amount on a cheque or invoice shows that nothing else follows, so no one can add to it. The "Rupees and paise" format includes it.

How do I write paise?

Put the paise after the decimal point. 250.50 is written as Rupees Two Hundred Fifty and Fifty Paise Only.
