How it works
The age is counted in whole calendar years first, then whole months, then the remaining days.
If a birthday falls on 29 February, it is counted as 1 March in years that are not leap years.
The second date is today by default. Change it to find out how old someone was, or will be, on a specific date, for example for a form that asks for age on a cut-off date.
Good to know
Counting follows the calendar, so a month has the number of days it really has.
Everything is worked out in your browser. The date you enter is not sent anywhere.
Frequently asked questions
How is the age calculated?
From the date of birth to the second date, in whole years, then months, then days.
Can I find age on a past or future date?
Yes. Change the “Age on” date. This is useful for cut-off dates in admissions and job applications.
Why does the day count look different from my own count?
Months have different lengths, so “1 month” can be 28 to 31 days. The total number of days is exact.
