How it works
Choose a PDF.
"Keep text" repacks the file without touching what is in it. Text stays selectable and links keep working, but the saving is often small.
"Pages as pictures" turns every page into a JPEG, which can cut a scan or a photo-heavy file a lot. Pick Smallest, Balanced or Clearer.
Press Compress, compare the sizes, and download. Your original is not changed.
Good to know
Pages as pictures makes text impossible to select, search or copy, and links and form fields stop working. Use it only for files that are read, not edited.
A PDF that is mostly text is usually small already. Turning it into pictures can make it larger, and the tool tells you when the result is not smaller.
Pages as pictures works up to 100 pages at a time and needs a lot of memory for large pages. Split big files first.
Password-protected PDFs cannot be opened. Remove the password first.
Frequently asked questions
How do I reduce the size of a PDF for email?
Try "Keep text" first. If it is still too large, use "Pages as pictures" with Balanced, and check that the pages are still readable.
Why did my PDF barely shrink?
Most of the size is usually images or scans already compressed inside the file. Only turning pages into pictures at a lower quality reduces that.
Is my PDF uploaded?
No. The file is processed in your browser and never leaves your device.
