Reduce Image Size to KB

Many application forms reject a photo or signature that is over 20 KB, 50 KB or 100 KB. Enter the limit and this tool saves the sharpest copy that fits. Your picture stays on this device.

or drag and drop them here

JPEG, PNG, WebP, GIF, BMP or AVIF. Your pictures stay on this device.

KB

The form's limit, like 20, 50 or 100. 1000 KB is about 1 MB.

Save as

Add a photo, enter the size limit and press the button. The result appears here.

How it works

Add your photo or signature and type the size limit from the form, in KB. The buttons give the common ones.

Press the button. The tool lowers the picture quality as little as it can, and only if that is not enough does it also reduce the pixels.

Check the new size, then download the file and upload it to the form.

Good to know

The result is under your limit, usually within a few percent of it. If the form also asks for a minimum size, check the number shown against it.

Forms often want exact pixel dimensions too, such as 200 by 230. If so, set those first with the image resizer, then reduce the size here.

JPEG is the safest format for forms. Use WebP only if the form accepts it.

The image is redrawn when it is saved, so camera details such as the location are removed from the copy.

Frequently asked questions

How do I reduce a photo to 50 KB?

Add the photo, enter 50 as the limit and press the button. The tool finds the best quality that fits under 50 KB and gives you the file to download.

Will the photo look worse?

A little, since a smaller file holds less detail. The tool lowers quality only as far as needed, and keeps it at a good level by reducing pixels first when a photo is very large.

Is my photo uploaded to a server?

No. Everything runs in your browser, so the picture never leaves your device.

Is 1 MB the same as 1000 KB?

For form limits, treat 1 MB as 1000 KB. Computers count 1 KB as either 1000 or 1024 bytes. The tool counts 1000, so the file is under your limit whichever way the form counts, and your computer may show it as slightly less than the number you typed.
